Explore the events and activities organized by EIS! These programs are all government funded. No registrations fees - all programs are free! Registration is recommended to save your spot because most programs have limited slots.

Come Walk a Day in Culturama (Yearly)
Join us for the regions most culturally colourful festival of its kind! This FREE festival showcases a variety of cultural performances. Enjoy professional international dances, music and art! Visit booths while you sample the wonderful array of FREE traditional food from various countries! Kids will be busy with craft and musical story telling! FREE ADMISSION TO ALL. EVERYONE WELCOME!
Christmas Party (Winter)
Part of our way to welcome newcomers is the yearly Christmas party. This event is held for all newcomers who arrived within the last 12 months. First Chrismas away from home can be difficult, so we gather round for a potluck evening of good food, family games and a visit from Santa. (‘Potluck’ means each family brings something for the table to share) Next Christmas Party: December 2012.
Kids Get Active Program (Yearly)
Get active offers free fitness program for all ages! The program encourage parents to let their kids try out different sports. This helps avoid wasting money to expensive sport registrations that which the kids end up not enjoying
! Let your children come a long and try 5 weeks of hockey, volleyball, basketball, soccer and football - Completely free! All activities are facilitated by local qualified sports coaches. Open to ages 5 to 15 years.
Get Active! (Yearly)
Women's fitness programs are fantastic classes for beginners and those who just want to keep being active. The classes are different every time! The variations make it all the more interesting and fun!

Community Newcomer Picnic (Summer)
Every year there is a newcomer picnic at AD Penner Park in Steinbach to welcome newcomers to the community. It is a ‘potluck’ which means each family brings something for the table to share. The picnic has games and events for the whole family and welcomes all locals and newcomers. The next picnic will be in spring/summer 2012.
Grunthal Low German Men & Ladies Group (Ongoing)
This group meets the last Thursday of every month at South Oaks School in Grunthal to talk about all aspects of family life. Childcare and a healthy snack are provided. Session held in Low German by a Low German facilitatorm, Louella Giesbrecht. Please contact Louella for any questions at 355-7239.

Learn about healthy lifestlye choices! From nutrition to exercise and self defence, from smoking cessation to drugs and alcohol, get advice on many other aspects of healthy living! Get tips on farmers markets, exercise and fitness, mental health - everything you need to ensure you and your family have a healthy lifestyle in Canada!
EIS regularly holds information sessions to advise newcomers on various topics such as income tax returns, credential recognition, property taxes, laws of Canada, health care, local by-laws, Canadian pensions, saving money, and many more! Ladies Social Group
?xml:namespace>Twice a year the Ladies Social Group meets up, sometimes for coffee to chat and share experiences and again to get together and have fun at a local facility such as pottery at the Steinbach Arts Council and gardening at a local garden centre. These events are sponsored by EIS, therefore there is little or no cost for those attending. Locals people are also invited to come along so the ladies new to town can make friends and ask questions about their new community.
Orientation Sessions (Ongoing)
These sessions give newcomers a brief introduction to Canadian systems (including health, working, schooling, taxes and local services) and to provide information related to settling into the community. These are held weekly but can be done individually by appointment. Sessions are available in English, Russian, Spanish, High and Low German and Tagalog.
Quiz Night (Monthly)
This fun evening is held one Saturday a month at Frantz Motor Inn. Get together with locals and newcomers and win great prizes including gift cards, $50 cash jackpot courtesy of Frantz, free DVD rentals and popcorn courtesy of Videomax - just by answering fun trivia questions with your friends!
