Settlement Facilitator

Eastman Immigrant Services is seeking a Settlement Facilitator for the Eastman region, operating in Steinbach, MB with occasional visits to our Interlake EIS Office in Arborg, MB. Reporting to the EIS Program Director, this person will:

1.Client Management

a. Intake, assessment, one-on-one counselling and creating solution-focused action plans for clients.
b. Ensure clients sign release of information forms and file forms in an orderly manner.
c. Assist with completion of application forms for MB Health, Social Insurance, Child Tax Benefits, etc.
d. Provide information and orientation regarding life in Canada, customs, laws, health and education systems, housing and employment, etc.
e. Refer clients to other community services as required.
f. Provide clients with ongoing support in the community during the settlement process.
g. Follow up on clients based on previous appointments and address any new needs.
h. Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
i. Follow organizational standards and regulations during interactions with clients and when working on behalf of the organization.
j. Promote all programs and services offered by EIS to each client.

2. Administration

a. Provide written monthly summary report to Program Director.
b. Maintain and update client files as required by funders.
c. Assist in updating settlement resources.
d. Provide feedback on potential future programs and services.
e. Provide front desk support as backup receptionist.
f. Participate in team meetings; staff meetings as required.
g. Participate in distribution, collection, and analysis of participant surveys and other evaluation and tracking procedures.

3. Community Liaison

a. Direct clients and the greater community to translation and interpretation services.
b. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and network.
c. Develop partnerships with service providers and ethno-cultural groups in the community to ensure access to programs and supports.
d. Attend immigrant community events and greater community events when appropriate.
e. Identify community educational opportunities EIS could facilitate as identified by immigrant communities or the greater community.

Office Coordinator (12 month term – June 1, 2023 – May 31, 2024)

Reporting to the Vice President the incumbent will be a highly motivated individual responsible for providing
centralized administrative support, programs, social events, and office administration for Maple Leaf Agri Farms.

A SNAPSHOT OF SOME OF THE EXCITING THINGS YOU WILL DO:

  • Administrative support to all functional leaders in Landmark office
  • Administer and coordinate the contract producer contracts
  • Coordinator of the MLAF Lease Vehicle Program
  • Coordinator of the MLAF Telecommunication Program
  • Coordinate all MLAF social events (non-social committee)
  • Scheduling onsite/offsite meetings for MLAF staff
  • Scheduling of travel arrangements for functional leaders
  • Travel & Expense support
  • Coordinates the monthly EMTG reports and associated scheduling
  • Oversees the location lunches/events i.e., Town Hall, BBQ’s
  • Provide back-up coverage to main reception i.e., lunches, breaks, absences and vacation
  • Coordinates the MLAF Swag Program
  • Ensures appropriate cleaning supplies on site
  • Coordinates the monthly communication board, distribution, and presentation
  • Adhoc requests

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Two years of related experience in office administration
  • Must possess strong skills in:

-Interpersonal

-Organizational

-Attention to detail

-Communication (written and oral) and work efficiently with all operations

-Computer – Excel and Microsoft Office

-Time management

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle several tasks simultaneously

Summer Student – Office Assistant

Eastman Immigrant Services is a non-profit organization serving immigrants in South East Manitoba. We are hiring a student to fill a 6-week position as an Assistant SWIS worker.

Canada Summer Jobs Position Criteria:

  • Between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

This person will be responsible for assisting the office team with entering data, communicating with clients, working at the reception desk, booking appointments, assisting in filling out registration forms, scanning, printing, filing and other office tasks. There may also be opportunity to assist with event planning, set-up and supervision for SWIS (student events) and family events.

Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory Police Record Checks including Child Abuse Registry
  • Immigrant to Canada
  • Good English communication skills
  • Willing to learn with a positive attitude
  • Well organized
  • Computer literate
  • Able to work Monday to Thursday (occasional Friday or Saturday for events), 4 days per week,7.5 hours/day from July 3 to August 11, 2023

Rate of pay: $14.15 per hour for 30 hours a week
